7 Things Every Christian Should Know About Christ's Second Coming

The Feast of Trumpets, referred to as "Rosh Hashanah" by the Jews, begins tonight at sunset and continues until tomorrow at sunset. For the Jews, this day represents the beginning of the civil new year, a time of restoration and repentance leading up to the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). In truth, this Holy Day pictures the second coming of Jesus Christ to earth, as I explained in a previous article. This Feast is not just for the Jews, and Christians today should be observing this day. Here are 7 important points about Christ's second coming that are pictured by the Feast of Trumpets:
Matthew 24:30-31
At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
#1 Jesus Christ will "appear in the sky," and everyone will see the King coming "with power and great glory."

#2  The world will not be happy to see Him: "all the nations of the earth will mourn."
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever.
#3  The "first resurrection" spoken of in Revelation 20:5 will take place at Christ's return, and those who have the "firstfruits of God's spirit" (Romans 8:23) will be resurrected to life. That is, the people who God has called in this life to receive, understand, and live by His truth will be resurrected, while everyone else who has ever lived will also be resurrected at a later time (Revelation 20:5).
1 Corinthians 15:52-53
For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality
#4 Not only will the firstfruits of God's spiritual creation be resurrected, but they will be resurrected to eternal life! This will be the first time that any human being in history has become immortal! The second resurrection of Revelation 20:5 will be a resurrection to mortal life (Ezekiel 37), at which point those people will be given knowledge of God so that they can also obtain eternal life.
Revelation 11:15
The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign for ever and ever."
#5 The Kingdom of God will be established! The Kingdom of God is not some intangible thing that dwells within us, nor is it heaven. It will be just as this scripture says: the kingdom of this world, that we currently live in, will become the Kingdom of God. It will be a physical kingdom on earth.
Zechariah 14:3-5
Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle... His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives... You will flee by my mountain valley... Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with Him.
#6 When Christ comes, He is going to literally take over the world by force. No wonder "all of the nations of the earth will mourn!"
Leviticus 23:24
On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts.
#7 Just as Israel was expected to worship at the sound of the trumpet blasts on the Feast of Trumpets, the entire world will be expected to worship God when the last trumpet sounds, fulfilling this vital step in God's plan.

Until that time when Christ returns, Christians should commemorate God's Feast of Trumpets every year, eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of everything that God has promised and revealed to us through this Holy Day.

  1. It is important to note that this day just symbolizes Christ's return...no one knows the actual day or time. I know that you know this, I just wanted to clarify :-)
